Relaxing in Udaipur

Sep-10-2009 By Christine

I arrived in Udaipur after a very long day of driving. After I got settled at my hotel in Udaipur, I had dinner at the hotels restaurant and drank quite a few Kingfishers. I was fortunate enough to be staying at the Udaipur the same time Yamaha motorbike company was and they were launching a new motorbike. They had a stage set up on the grounds of the grounds next to my hotel and I got to see a few Indian celebrities that did special appearances through out the launch. I don’t really know all the Bollywood celebrities, but that didn’t stop me for hanging around. I was the only white person in crowd. I thought that was pretty unusual, but it didn’t bother me in the slightest. I saw some flashy singing and dancing and I laughed at the stand up comedian who spoke entirely in Hindi, but everyone was laughing so much, I couldn’t help but laugh right along with them. I hung around and got to see some very nice motorbikes and the models standing in front of the bike were the best part of the launch. Exquisitely beautiful. India really does have the most beautiful women in the world.

The next day I spent my time in the City Palace complex. I recognized one of the building being used in the film Octopussy. I checked out the floating garden on Jagmandir Island, which gave me a great view of the City Palace itself. In the evening I went to a regular touristy type of place where I could listen to music and watch all kinds of dancing from the different regions within Rajassthan. All the the entertainment was okay, but I didn’t like being hassled for tips by all the performers, that didn’t make for a relaxing night. So, I headed back to my hotel room and called up room service to bring me up several bottles of Kingfisher. Now that’s worth tipping for and it’s very relaxing.
